Hi, I am Shamla Shankar. I like to be reminded that I was once a journalist, but my most pleasurable chores as a grandmother, wife and my culinary forays always make me forget that writing is one of my passions.  However, thanks to my travel mates at Lakshmi’s Travels, I make it a point to take brief notes and with the help of pictures and memories reconstruct our adventures abroad. So far we have visited Turkey, Israel, several countries of the African continent, many destinations in the Far East and most recently, Peru, New Zealand, Fiji, China, Tibet and Japan.  And the best, Switzerland!    This blog will attempt to load all my travel writings till date and in future add more as we tour. Hopefully pictures will give a glimpse of places visited along with my writing. I encourage my readers to write to me and ask questions, especially if they plan to do travels of their own.

Since this blog was started we have travelled to soooo many more countries, my friends tease me that I spend more time “out there” than at home! Can’t wait to visit my top favorite country, Switzerland,    —  2019 — Been there done that!  Read about it!!  Iceland in 2022 was the icing on the cake.  All that remains is my partner favorite, Egypt!  Planning a trip in 2023
